EthicalStylist.com – Breaking away from mainstream consumer habits
Ethical fashion was something of a theme that ran throughout A Good Week. But just because A Good Week ‘officially’ ended on June 26th doesn’t mean that we stop giving you tips on how to adopt more responsible shopping habits. Here, founder of Ethical Stylist Lucy Harvey gives us her Good fashion advice…
Have the confidence to ignore the fast changing trends on the High Street, in fashion magazines and the general demands of the “Buy It Now!” culture.
This unforced sense of urgency is false and completely unnecessary. All it serves to do is put you in a state of flux and undermine your self-confidence, causing you to buy clothes you don’t need.
Your clothes are an extension of your identity, by succumbing to the pressure from the High Street to constantly change your identity through shopping, you’re allowing large corporations to mess with your psychology.
It’s time to carve out a new identity that belongs to you and not to the demands of mass production. Choose clothes that make you glow with confidence and your heart swell with pride. Do the clothes you wear meet the ‘triple bottom line’: People, Planet, Profit? Not just profit at the expense of people and the planet?
Here’s a 100% ethical look that doesn’t break the bank…

The unique pink, patterned dress (£55) is designed by TOGA+Loll and is made with recycled saris, created through a fair trade registered organisation. The necklace (£19) is made of recycled silk in a gold clasp by Frilly By Lily here in the UK.
The orange pumps (£39 sale price) are by ethical and vegan shoe company Beyond Skin. The Hat (£43) is by Pachacuti, winner of The Observer award for ethical fashion 2011. The sunglasses (£5 sale) and gorgeous straw bag (£15) are both vintage from Rokit.
A perfect and affordable combination for long summer days, to be worn year after year!
